Pain Management for Women, Aboriginal Peoples, or the Elderly – Crane Library Web Pick of the Week

CADTH, the Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health, conducted a review to identify evidence-informed guidelines regarding pain management in three population groups: women, Aboriginal peoples and the elderly.

Their findings were published on March 28, 2016 and were based on a rapid review of the literature. From their search, they found one evidence-based guideline relating to pain management in the elderly. No evidence-based guidelines were found for women or Aboriginal peoples.

It is: Abdulla A, Adams N, Bone M, Elliott A, Gaffin J, Jones D, et al. Evidence-based clinical practice guidelines on the management of pain in older people. Age Ageing [Internet]. 2013 [cited 2016 Mar 28];42(Suppl 1):i1-i57. PubMed: PM23420266. Available from: http://ageing.oxfordjournals.org/content/42/suppl_1/i1.full.pdf
