Congratulations to Ada Ducas – Head, Health Sciences Libraries on her YMCA-YWCA Women of Distinction Award.
As the YMCA-YWCA notes, “Ada has dedicated her distinguished career as a health sciences librarian to developing information services to support health care providers. In her 20 years as Head of the Health Sciences Library at the University of Manitoba, Ada has been instrumental in consolidating health science library services and resources, first within the University of Manitoba and the Health Sciences Centre, and then within Winnipeg and Manitoba. Her leadership and vision has helped grow hospital libraries from standalone facilities servicing each hospital to an interconnected set of resources and services that support staff, faculty and students throughout the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority.”
The annual Awards Gala put on by the YMCA-YWCA “puts a spotlight on the outstanding achievements of these extraordinary role models, visionaries and pioneers,” said Melanie Verhaeghe, Chair of the YMCA-YWCA Women of Distinction Steering Committee. “The nominee stories are awe-inspiring – these women have gone above and beyond to create opportunities for others and make our communities better.”
