It was with great sadness that the staff of the Health Sciences Libraries learned of the passing of Dr. Robert T. Ross on April 15, 2017.
University of Manitoba professor emeritus Dr. Ross was a well-respected and dedicated neurologist known for his research, medical writing, and significant philanthropy. Graduating with his M.D. from the University of Manitoba in 1948, Dr. Ross practised neurology and educated medical students during a long and distinguished career spanning over 46 years. He was appointed to the Order of Canada in 1993.
Dr. Ross was a constant supporter of the Health Sciences Libraries during his career and even after retirement. Because of Dr. Ross’ generous donations to the University’s medical library, it was the first library on campus to house a computer lab in the mid-1980s. In addition, he founded the Dr. R. T. Ross Medical Library Trust Fund which continues to fund the purchase of new research and study materials every year.
The University of Manitoba Libraries extends its deepest condolences to the Ross family.
