Health sciences librarian named Hospital Librarian of the Year

Angela Osterreicher, librarian at the J. W. Crane Memorial Library, received the Canadian Health Libraries Association/Association des bibliothèques de la santé du Canada (CHLA/ABSC) Hospital Librarian of the Year Award at the 2017 CHLA/ABSC annual conference in Edmonton, AB.

Angela has been the librarian at the J. W. Crane Memorial library since 2006. During that time she has faithfully served the Deer Lodge Centre (DLC) as well as overseen the provision of library service to Riverview Health Centre and the WHRA Long Term Care Program’s thirty-nine personal care homes in Winnipeg. Angela provides excellent library service and constantly seeks out new ways to assist and reach out to clients using Twitter, promotional initiatives, and integration into DLC-wide projects and programs.

CHLA/ABSC receives nominations for the CHLA/ABSC Hospital Librarian of Year Award each year from across Canada. The recipient of this award must have made significant contributions to the practice of hospital librarianship in Canada as demonstrated by excellence and achievement in advocacy, leadership, publications, presentations, teaching, research, technology, administration, or special projects. They must also have provided superior library service that has contributed significantly to health care or improved recognition of the importance of hospital librarianship in the provision of health care.
