This is part of a series of news posts for Fair Dealing Week (February 26 to March 2, 2018).
Did you know the University of Manitoba has a Copyright Office? The Copyright Office can help you with any questions related to copyright, including whether you are abiding appropriately to fair dealing provisions. The Office can provide assistance whether you are faculty, a student, researcher, or administrative and support staff.
- Faculty: in collaboration with UM Libraries, the Office and UML offer Copyright Solutions, a free service that ensures course material is copyright compliant, including covering any copyright clearances as needed.
- Students: students who submit content to mSpace, U of M’s institutional repository, are responsible for ensuring they are copyright compliant. Contact the Copyright Office or attend a GradSteps workshop, such as “Copyright & Your Thesis.”
- Researchers: if you are interested in a one-on-one session or group workshop, contact Tobe Duggan from the Copyright Office (204-474-9607). There are also drop-in sessions available throughout the year, at the Bannatyne and Fort Garry campuses.
- Administrative and Support Staff: administrative copyright and university web pages & social media.
As well, librarian Sarah Clark is available to ensure any resources used in UM Learn are accurately linked and appropriately used!
